More about what you’ll uncover each week:

Week One

We begin the journey by creating a base on which to build. I will present my philosophy about dance and teaching and we will look at basic principles of how students learn and the important “basics” that need to be included in every class.

Week Two

We explore the content you will include in the “Dance as a Spiritual Practice” course, grounding, connecting, sacred space, the ecstatic experience, moving energy, healing dance and becoming the vessel.

Week Three

In Week Three we begin working on the movement exercises. You will learn the movement exercises. We will focus on the important aspects of each exercise and how they serve as the experiential piece for the student to ground and embody the information they are learning.

Week Four

Week Four is devoted to bringing it all together. This is an opportunity to catch up if you have fallen behind. It is also an opportunity to assimilate all the information that has been seeded.

Week Five

How do you run a class? We will work on structuring a class from to content to presentation. You be given handouts and scripts that can be used to teach guide the student through the exercises and the course.

Week Six

Filling in the gaps—by Week Six you will be able to identify what is missing in your own learning. You will have prepared a class, worked with the exercises and had time to process everything. This is the point where you can assess what else you need to fully understand the process of teaching sacred dance to others. This is the polishing or fine-tuning phase.

Week Seven

Now it’s time to bring in more variety. How do we adapt the basic 2-hour “Dance as a Spiritual Practice” course into other formats? You will be presented with templates to adapt the course into shorter and longer workshops using the same information and exercises.

Week Eight

This week we focus on your audience, your vision and venues. We will look at all the logistics involved in actually producing the class.

Week Nine

This week we focus on technology—why it is important and how to do it. We will work on social media, email lists and landing pages. And fill in the blanks in your own skills.

Week Ten

Now we have collected all the pieces of the puzzle, both creative and technical. It’s time to revisit the material, put it all together, polish and add layers. By adding layers we can extend the class into longer formats and retreats.

Week Eleven

In Week Eleven we will choose a special topic based on the needs of the group. It might be special groups such as children or mid-life women. The topic will depend on where group members would like to take their practice and teaching.

Week Twelve

We begin the certification process. This is an opportunity for you to finish all the coursework and prepare your first class or demonstration. There will be a 30-minute one-on-one session with each student, and another one at the end of the certification process.

You’ll come away with:

  • A certification to teach “Dance as a Spiritual Practice” in your own community

  • A set of simple, powerful tools and practices you can use to create your own courses and ceremonies

  • The ability to use the appropriate technology to teach and promote your courses, such as websites, email lists, landing pages and social media

  • An online community there to support during and after the course

  • The confidence and tools to teach and help other women to experience the power of sacred dance

  • A source of income that can give you a return on your investment as well as the feeling that you are contributing to the growth of others

    Leslie Zehr

Writer Leslie Zehr teaches Sacred Dance, helping women reconnect to the sacred feminine. She is also the host of the Sacred Dance Summit, as well as being an aromatherapist, hypnotherapist, reiki master and astrologer. She has published two books, "The Alchemy of Dance: Sacred Dance as a Path to the Universal Dancer," and "The Al-chemia Remedies: Vibrational Essences from Egyptian Flowers and Sacred Sites." In her more than 30 years in Egypt, Leslie has created innumerable projects. Leslie's main work has been the Universal Dancer, a method she developed through her own spiritual and transformational journey in Egypt and through which she teaches Sacred Dance, a meditational form of dance that empowers women, reconnecting them to the sacred feminine within while at the same time being both healing and transformational. Through dance, Leslie retells the archetypal stories using music, primordial energies, sacred geometry, wave motion and vibration, taking women back through time to the essence of their being, initiating and unlocking the esoteric wisdom buried deep within their psyche. Her workshops have been attended by hundreds of women of different nationalities and taken her from Cairo and ancient Egyptian temples along the Nile River to studios and centers in New York, Maine, Maryland, Arizona, Washington and Puerto Rico.

What people are saying...

"[Leslie] Your help and expertise with the processes of technology was invaluable and your patience in explaining and ensuring connectivity was vital. Before I signed up I had no real experience with Mailchimp, setting up a Landing Page or creating a UDL…. well what a steep learning curve you danced me through!! I feel sure that your skills in this area, coupled with your passion and wisdom for Sacred Dance, are helping to promote and create community. We can never know what our legacy is for those who dance after us, but mentoring and sharing can only enrich the world of Sacred Dance for all those who follow us."—Tricia mary Lee, Busselton, Western Australia

"[Leslie] You were an attentive, thorough, patient guide into the creation of a Landing Page and the technical details that makes it work. I truly appreciated your guidance and support."—Joana Saahirah, Portugal

"Leslie is an exquisite mentor as not only does she have a profound knowledge and experience with online marketing and publishing, she also is gifted looking at situations from multiple perspectives. She always comes up with useful insights you would never have thought of yourself."—Nada Jan, Cairo, Egypt

Leslie has very well broken down her dance course into digestible information along with practical exercises that are fun and reflective. It’s about dancing with depth and accessing one's multidimensional aspects (Physical, emotional, mental, spiritual) with curiosity and non-judgment. It is a wonderful practice useful for those who want to explore personal and spiritual growth through movement. I really enjoyed both the live and online workshop versions!”— Rawan Husseini, Dubai, UAE

“I love how this course weds simplicity with profundity. Leslie has a wonderful understanding of what is foundational to a spiritual dance practice. From her building blocks one can plunge into the depths and fly to the heavens as you will. Great course!! Leslie's book also adds important embellishments and ideas for further dance practice strategies. It's a great help and inspiration.”—Charlotte Hussey, MFA, PhD, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Leslie offers a course that reaches you to connect to your mind, body and spirit through movement, sound and vibration. I greatly enjoyed this course and would take another if she offered.”— Paula Petri, Wisconsin, USA

The platform for the course is easy and organized. The practice itself has opened me up to another level of spiritual connection within myself.”— Robin Kimbrel Wiggs, Colorado, USA

Price $1097

  • What is the difference between the “beta” program and the regular program?

A “beta” group means that this is a pilot program. The advantage to that is that the price will be lower than when it is offered next time. The beta group is limited to a small number of students, which means you will get more live events and more personal interaction with the instructor.

  • How much time/work is required to complete this course?

Depending on the module the total time per week will vary between 1½ to 2 hours per week. Every week there is a one-hour lesson by the instructor that you will need to attend (or watch the replay). In addition to that there will be action steps to work on to support your understanding of the material. These could include movement exercises, readings, assignments, live Q & A’s, supplemental videos or journaling, which could take from 30 minutes to an hour.

  • What are the requirements for certification?

In order to be certified as a Dance as a Spiritual Practice Instructor you need to successfully complete all of the course work in the program as well as preparing and presenting a live course or demonstration.

  • How often will this program be offered?

The Dance as a Spiritual Practice Certification Program is only offered twice a year.

  • How easy will it be to get my “return on investment” from this program?

By teaching only one or two courses (depending on the number of students) you can easily recoup the money invested to take the program.

  • Are there any pre-requisites for this course?

No. It may help your understanding of the instructors approach if you have taken the “Dance as a Spiritual Practice” course, either live or online, or read her book “The Alchemy of Dance: Sacred Dance as a Path to the Universal Dancer” but it is not a must.

  • Is there a registry/list of certified teachers?

Yes. All students who successfully complete the certification process will be listed on Leslie’s website in a list of worldwide certified instructors.

  • Will there be ongoing support for teachers after the course?

As community is a big piece of the sacred feminine way there will be ongoing support for teachers both during and after the program. There is a dedicated, closed group on Facebook specifically for the Dance as a Spiritual Practice Certification Program. This is a way for students of the program as well as certified teachers to support each other.
